Seated Yakushi Nyorai Buddha of Healing and Medicine. Japanese figural sculpture rendered in carved wood decorated with lacquer, gold leaf, and pigment. Buddha seated in padmasana pose with eyes slightly parted and raising his right hand in the abhaya mudra and holding a medicine container in his left hand which rests on his knee. 18th century, Edo period. |
