Description |
Carved and painted wooden mask in the form of a buffalo. Used in funeral and other ceremonies to intercede with spirits on behalf of the living. Wooden, polychromed mask with long, curving horns, and ears protruding from sides. Decorated with geometric patterns (mostly diamond and triangular shapes). Black, white, and red color scheme. The horns are black with white, pointy tips. Inside is black with red pigments. Has eyes protruding out of front sides and a mouth that is slightly open. |
