Carved wood Iatmul Sepik River suspension hook in the form of a human figure with a flat disk-shaped head and cowrie shell eyes. White pigment on face and throughout body in horizontal bands across upper arms, wrists, waist, thighs, knees, and ankles. White spots at chest and shoulders as well as vertical bands across hook at the base of the figure. Melanesian, Oceanic, New Guinea, Middle Sepik River, Iatmul culture. |
