Description |
Of typical form, the helmet mask with classical Yoruba features; large eyes, sensual nose and large lips, depicting a young woman in her prime. The coif is well worked out as a series ofraised triangular nubs. The hair is elaborately braided with a depiction of a cloth hair-band. Scarification to the face with blue infill and a fine patina from use and wear. A very fine example of the type. Date of manufacture: Early 20th Century |
