Description |
Carved and painted Guro face mask in the form of a figure with modeled facial features wearing a headdress wiht a curved element protruding from the top of the head. The cap of the headdress consists of a band of alternating squares decorated in red and yellow pigment. The mask has slit eyes, a thin, protruding nose, and a small, circular mouth. Guro peoples, Cote d'Ivoire, Africa. Early 20th century. |
